
Bio: Jody-Ann Campbell
Jody-Ann Campbell is a proud Black seventeen year old who motivates her peers through Dub poetry. She was born in the paradise of Jamaica and migrated to Canada in 2006. Jody-Ann seeks to make a difference in her generation. She is passionate and tied to her roots.
She joined Elevated Ground’s summer program in 2007. While in the program Jody-Ann became enriched with our curriculum and at the same time performed and enlightened her peers. Jody-Ann showed great stewardship, passion and need for artistic training throughout her duration in our program.
Her Dub poetry is so electrifying and thought-provoking; it forces you to question your life and purpose. Because of her perseverance, Elevated Grounds in conjunction with Live with Culture’s “Arts in the Hood” awarded Jodi-Ann with a $2, 000 scholarship for arts training in any field she desires. She dazzled the audience upon receiving the award by stating, “there is nothing like Elevated Grounds out there, it’s the best thing for young artists and it’s free!”.
Bio: Olivia Lynch
Olivia is a 15 year old songstress and actress who constantly strives to be all she can be. She joined Elevated Grounds’ summer program in 2007 and continues to be a contributing member.
From her initial interview/audition where she fidgeted and barely made eye contact with the judges, to bravely singing to thousands towards the end of the program, we have seen Olivia transform before our eyes. Elevated Grounds has been both inspirational and motivating for her and has taken her confidence level to higher heights. Olivia is excelling and trying her best to reach out to youth so they can advance themselves and make steps into their dreams like she is doing consistently.
Olivia was also a recipient of the $2,000 scholarship awarded by Elevated Grounds and Live with Culture’s “Arts in the Hood”. She is a vibrant, intelligent and determined. We believe she is a star in the making.
