Youth Revolution (2006)

MIGUEL, STEPHANIE and HILARY are teens from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and take a firm stance on violence in their community. They are the best of friends, however experience unique and disturbing issues in their homes. Miguel is emasculated continuously by his mother. She has no faith in the abilities of her son. She is a woman scorn and as a result she is oblivious about the un-just social reality Miguel and her live in. She realizes the greatness in her son and willingly takes credit for his success she had no part nurturing.

Stephanie lost her younger brother to gun-violence. This has taken a tragic toll on her as well as her mother. The memory of Stephanie’s murdered brother has caused great resentment against her from her mother. And consequently, their relationship is quickly deteriorating. Stephanie resurrects the spirit within her mother when she combats the deadly force that claimed the life of her brother.

Hilary faces a different problem in her pursuit for peace. Her father is the egotistical and domineering Chief of Police in their city. He believes that on the one hand he can only answer the problem of gun-violence and on the other, he forbids his daughter to take part in any community initiatives to stop it. Hilary’s determination causes her to take youth action against gun violence in their city through the partnership of Miguel and Stephanie. Hilary faces grave consequences from her parents when she blatantly disobeys them. In the end, Hilary, Miguel and Stephanie show their parents, peers and community that a reality of peace, unity and positive change is achievable through the passion they have towards communal solidarity.
