February 1st 2010 by Elevated Grounds in General

So I walk in at approximately 6:20 on January 26, 2010, into the Jean Vanier cafetorium expecting that everything’s going to go well with my audition and all(because at the time that’s what I came in expecting to do, that’s all)
So then I get called into a circle, and we commence with something called a “check In”(new thing to me). In the “check In” we are suppose to give just a general synopsis of how are day was, how were feeling at the present moment etc.
My response ” I’m doing well. I moved over the weekend , so I’m very tired, but other then that I’m doing well”. Then we proceeded to warm-ups in which a young man(who’s name I can’t remember at the moment ) lead the vocal warm-ups , though through my understanding, he doesn’t usually lead them. The warm-ups lasted about 5-10 mins (which is very short compared to what I usually do in my vocal class, but it was good enough). So then we played a game called “Baby I love you can you please smile for me?”(or at least I think it called that) in which we were to go to any random person in the group and try and get them to smile. I managed to get my first person to smile, who was nicknamed by the group ” too easy”.(I’m good, aren’t I?) So after the warm-ups, myself and three other new cast members were finally taken to audition in which we showcased what we could to acting and vocal wise. It was nerve-wrecking, but I got through it. So finally we were taken back to joint he rest of the group to rehearse. Overall I think I fit well into this group. I believe that this will be a great experience for me to exercise my talents and use those talents to spread the message that Elevated Grounds is. Through this experience, I hope to gain more insight on the different mental health issues we as teens face, and more particularly, the mental health issue we face. I anticipate what this experience will bring, and I’m glad I can be apart of what being “ELEVATED” stands for!

So today’s rehearsal(or talk session) was very tiring, but necessary. I came form a rehearsal for my school play, and then rushed over to be greeted by a circle of people, only to find out that for the next half hour, we were going to discuss very issues related to mental health. Turns out that we ended up talking the entire 3 hours and did not get any rehearsing in. However, I believe that it was very necessary and was defiantly empowering!

So on Wednesday ,after our previous “talk session’ two days prior, we finally got to rehearse. It went quite well! We accomplished much and we were very happy to hear we basically now have rehearsed the the entire play.
The hard works over now guys! All we have to do now is fine tune hear and there and we should be good to go!

    Tuesdays rehearsal was quite interesting.
We had a small turnout today, however we were still somewhat productive.
Right now i believe that we are at a bump in the road in terms of moving foward, however, i believe we can jump over that boat!
    Hang on guys!
    Delay is not Denial!

    Thursday!
WOW! That’s all i can say.
This rehearsal was probably my worst rehearsal to date because of my being sick, however, it was very productive as we fine tuned some of our dances.
Thanks to the collaboration of different ideas our step dance is a lot better then it was a few weeks ago.
    It sounds AMAZING!
    Good work guys!

So on Wednesday, a young lady named Sophia graced us with her presence. She was from the company in which we will be performing for on the 20th of this month. Her main reason for being there was to go through the script and revise and clean it up with us so its performance ready on the 29th! I must say, her advice and suggestions were very beneficial and if i was excited before..now i’m ex static!

Tuesday’s rehearsal was productive and well rehearsed. I came back from taking two days off to see the final pieces of the show put together and that made me even more excited about the upcoming performance on,.Monday! Can’t wait!
